If there's one thing we were all guilty of in 2014, it was oversharing the details of our lives on social media. But what we don't realize is, the more we share, the more our homes are at risk of burglary. We set out to teach one social media happy couple (and the country) a lesson. As Matt and Shannon were posting selfies from The Sugar Bowl, we used 8 nationally televised spots airing during the game, to have Mayhem break in to their house, and sell everything they own live on mayhemsale.com.

RESULTS

The website received 18 million clicks in just 4 hours, #MayhemSale trended #1 on Twitter worldwide, and all the traffic (and free media attention) pointed to Allstate's launch of Project Aware Share. An online initiative to spread awareness of the issue and help protect customers and their belongings.
