The Corona Hotline
Who needs a help line for watching football and drinking beer? Basically no one. But taking a stupid premise seriously is exactly what we did with Tony Romo and the Corona Hotline. As long as Tony’s been behind the desk, I’ve been behind the scripts, stretching this campaign from a call center for the gameday inept, into a talkshow, a motivational speaker series, adding a basketball department and even a Super Bowl activation. Here are some highlights.
Romo Replacement Super Bowl Activation
Our clients came to us a month before the Super Bowl and asked us if we wanted to do an activation using the Corona Hotline. Duh – of course we did.
As it turned out, Tony Romo was actually announcing the Super Bowl this year. So we had our idea – our Hotline Operator was busy during the biggest gameday of the season. So we needed a backup. We called for auditions and got started.
In just two weeks we made a couple of teaser spots with Tony and shot auditions with Shaq, Snoop, and Kenny Smith. Even Guillermo threw in a couple of auditions for the Kimmel Show. Tons of influencer content was created and millions of eyeballs got to see what would happen if someone else was the Hotline Operator for a day.

Huge shouts to the whole team for pulling this off.
Corona Hotline Basketball Dept.
In 2020 we added a basketball department to the Corona Hotline, manned by none-other than Kenny “the Jet” Smith. The spots would air throughout March Madness, soothing fans through every upset and busted bracket.

The Corona Hotline Show
There comes a time in any successful campaign where a refresh is in order. “We want all the same equities and assets of the Corona Hotline, just not the Corona hotline. So we converted the callcenter into a talk show, complete with a live audience that was later removed for COVID optics.
